I really love the forward visibility you get on the C-130! Here’s a nice little sunset photo taken from the flightdeck of this KC-130J on its way to Tunisia.
Maj. Michael Carreiro, left, and Capt. Joseph Goodrich, both pilots with KC-130J Hercules Detachment, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, sit in the cockpit after departing Souda Bay, Crete, Greece, March 4, 2011. 26th MEU was directed by the Department of Defense to help evacuate Egyptians, who fled to the Tunisian border from Libya, get back to Egypt. How’d you like a Russian SU-27 on your wing?
JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska (Aug. 7, 2011) - A Russian SU-27 Flanker, flying from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski, intercepts Fencing 1220, a suspected hijacked aircraft during Exercise Vigilant Eagle. Fighters and Airborne Warning and Control aircraft from the U.S and Russia participated in Vigilant Eagle 2011. The exercise marks the second year of cooperation between the Russian Federation and NORAD to counter possible threats of air terrorism crossing international boundaries. A Hellcat and its pilot. One reason I like those old wardbirds is they were quite sturdy. The pilot is sitting on quite a load of metal! Photo by Geoff Collins. Full version here.
